Electrical Components
TUV Rheinland of North America, Inc. can provide testing and certification services for components and subassemblies. Component approvals play a great importance in the safety end use product. For example, circuit-breakers have to disconnect the equipment from the power in case of short-circuit, fault condition or overload. Components for household appliances, office equipment or audio/video equipment tested by TUV Rheinland of North America, Inc. make a valuable contribution to safety.
Our test marks show that the component has been inspected by an impartial organization and has been found compliant with the required safety standards.
Manufacturer Test Programs:
TUV Rheinland of North America, Inc. has launched two programs, TMP and SMT,
to improve service by providing clients with more convenient ways to have
products evaluated and included in all certification programs. The suitable
program for any client depends on the resources available to the client and
number of products to be evaluated annually. Below is a brief description
of each program.
TMP (Testing at Manufacturer's Premises) is ideal for manufacturers
test laboratories having adequate resources for conducting product evaluations.
Testing will be performed by the manufacturer or independent laboratory, and
will be witnessed by TUV Rheinland of North America personnel. Non-compliance
issues can be resolved on the spot rather than later, which will save time
and costs.
SMT (Supervised Manufacturer Testing) is ideal for manufacturers
test laboratories having adequate resources for conducting product evaluations
and where a substantial number of products are evaluated each year. This program
requires an initial audit and subsequent surveillance audits. Witness testing
normally occurs once at the start of the program. Following the initial witness
testing, the manufacturer or the independent test laboratory provides TUV Rheinland
of North America with test data, which is then reviewed with a sample of the
product.
